Best Motorcycle Gloves for Big Hands

Gloves are important when riding a motorcycle but sometimes finding the right size of gloves can be a hassle especially if you have longer fingers or a larger palm. To add to that, sizing charts can be a nightmare. When I buy gloves, I find that for some brands I’m a size large, for others, I’m a medium. And sometimes, two different gloves from the same manufacturer have different sizes that fit me.

Knowing this, I decided to look for a few gloves that would fit riders with large hands or longer fingers. As I looked for a good pair, I found that there aren’t a lot of options specifically for riders with these types of hands.

But as I looked for brands that give the options for larger or longer sizes, I found that Cortech (Amazon) has the best fitting gloves that are stylish, functional, and reasonably priced.

Why wear gloves?

I know some people who say that wearing gloves actually restricts them from riding properly. They say that wearing motorcycle gloves gives them no feedback on the bike’s controls. But then again, they started riding with no gloves and have ridden that way ever since.

If you’ve ever ridden a bicycle and had an unfortunate accident, you’d remember that the first thing you did was to put your hands out to break the fall. That’s basic human instinct to protect our head and face. When riding a motorcycle, that instinct doesn’t go away. If you go down, you will hold your hands out.

Anybody who’s gone down while riding knows the importance of gloves. I’ve only crashed once and I was wearing gloves. I slid for a good three seconds and in that amount of time, the leather on my gloves was almost ground off.

Best gloves for large hands

The reason why I chose Cortech is because this brand specializes in great gear that won’t break the bank. Tourmaster is Cortechs sister company and that’s been around for decades. Cortech is basically the ‘sporty’ version of Tourmaster.

I’ve had a few Cortech gloves and they hold out pretty well. Also, Cortech sizes typically range from a small to a 3XL. This range in their sizing is the main reason a lot of riders with big hands gravitate towards this brand.

Cortech Heckler Gloves

If you have long narrow fingers like me, I suggest considering the Cortech Heckler Gloves (Amazon) in your next purchase. I’ve owned a pair of Heckler gloves myself and they were an absolute favorite. The Cortech Heckler gloves are a pair of cafe-style leather gloves that look good on any motorcycle.

Sizing

The Cortech Heckler gloves fit slim. People with long na narrow fingers would look great in the Hecklers. As mentioned they have sizes ranging from a Small to a 3XL and even come in a ladies’ version. If you have shorter, thicker fingers and a wider palm, you may want to check the next glove.

Style

The Cortech Heckler gloves would look great in a sportbike, cafe-style, or even a v-twin bike but it fits the style of a lot of motorcycles. These would be great commuter gloves or gloves for a quick ride around town or a cruise in the weekend. The Heckler gloves, however, are a basic pair of gloves and were designed with comfort and style in mind.

Protection

The Heckler gloves come in a full 0.8 mm goatskin construction. Goatskin is light, comfortable, and extremely flexible. The beauty about goatskin is that it as it breaks in, it’ll give you great tactile feedback on your controls but still maintains protection.

There is some light foam padding on the back of the knuckles and the palm for protection as well as light reinforcement in between the finger and the thumb. The Hecklers are more specialized for comfort and sleek design so the minimal foam padding is a plus.

The Cortech Heckler gloves also come with perforations on the back of the knuckle, Pre-curved fingers improve comfort, dexterity and help reduce hand fatigue, an extended, elasticized slip-on cuff with secure hook and loop wrist closure, and soft polyester tricot liner for increased comfort

These gloves not only provide you with great protection but I think they’re also a great lifestyle piece from Cortech. Regardless of what kind of bike you ride, I think every rider should have a nice pair of clean, sleek, leather motorcycle gloves in their gear.

Cortech Duster Gloves

If you have hands that are wider or thicker than average, then you may want to stray away from the Heckler gloves and take a look instead at the Cortech Duster Gloves (Amazon). The Duster gloves not only give riders with wide palms a better fit but also a step up in protection and comfort with added accordion stretch panels.

Sizing

Like the Heckler, the Duster gloves also come in sizes up to 3XL. Though the Duster doesn’t have a women’s version they do come in an Extra-Small size. The gloves are also a little shorter with boxier fingers and a boxier palm compared to the Heckler. If you have shorter, thicker fingers and a wide palm, the Cortech Duster gloves are going to be a good pair to consider.

The Duster gloves also come with an accordion stretch leather patch along the knuckles for more flexibility. The accordion stretch also comes along the two fingers for actuating the clutch and the brake levers.

Style

The Cortech Duster gloves are styled in the classic leather motorcycle gloves and would go great in almost any bike you pair it with. These would also be a great pair for commuting around town or even for the occasional weekend spirited ride. Though the Duster gloves fit great for almost any type of rider, the gloves are noticeably more stylish when paired with a cafe or cruiser style of motorcycle.

The stylish design on the Duster also makes it a great choice for a lot of sportbike riders as the supple and soft goatskin leather make handling the controls easier. The short cuffs on the Duster also make twisting the throttle easier, making the ride more comfortable.

Protection

The Duster gloves are made with durable and supple 0.7mm-0.8mm goatskin leather backhand, palm, fingers and fourchettes. Once again, this goatskin is going to give you maximum feedback, comfort, and protection on the road. It also has some light foam padding on the knuckles and the palm.

The Cortech Duster gloves come with a snap closure design for a secure fit, a full goatskin palm, some reinforcement near the thumb, light padding across the palm as well as the base of the wrist. The gloves also come with perforations along the sides and front fingers for added ventilation, an elasticized slip-on cuff, and a soft polyester liner for comfort.

To summarize

As a recap, the Heckler and the Duster gloves are great lifestyle pieces from Cortech. With the Heckler, you’ll get a more comfortable fit if you have long narrow fingers. With the Duster gloves, you’ll be more comfortable if you have shorter thicker fingers and a wide palm. Both of these gloves are constructed with comfortable and durable goatskin leather and both of them are priced almost the same.

These two gloves will fit a large range of riders as they come in sizes from Extra-Small to 3XL. And finally, these gloves would look very stylish and fashionable on any rider or motorcycle. Truly, these two gloves would be a great pair for any rider looking to expand their gear selection with a pair of classic style leather gloves.
